OFSTED

Every Kiddi Caru nursery aims to provide standards of care and education in excess of the minimum requirements; these requirements are set by the regulatory authority for providers of daycare and education to children, Ofsted (The Office for Standards in Education). Ofsted is the non-government body required by law to inspect children's services.

Ofsted was originally created as an inspectorate for schools and education services, but since September 2001 it has also been responsible for regulating care services for children.

Ofsted operates a universal grading system which now applies to the findings of most inspections it undertakes. 'Satisfactory' means that a provider is operating to the required standards but there are areas that could be improved, 'good' reflects a provider where standards are above requirements and Ofsted can find little to identify for improvement, and 'outstanding' indicates a setting where best practice has been observed and Ofsted can find no fault. It is possible to 'fail', or be significantly below the requirements, when a judgement of 'inadequate' is given. Reports for all Kiddi Caru nurseries which have been inspected can be found on the Ofsted website – www.ofsted.gov.uk.
